Know Your Body Type

"Bodies come in all different shapes and sizes. Some have curves, others have scars, maybe stretch marks, also muscle, and probs hair in places not deemed “appropriate” according to societal standards. But one thing that is certain: Your body is the only body you get. And that makes it pretty damn special."

We all have different bodies

The fact that every single one of us is different and special is one of the most attractive aspects of our species. The human body may take on a wide variety of forms and sizes. It is essential to understand that there is no such thing as a "typical" or "average" body type. Some of us have wider shoulders and hips, while others have narrower hips and wider shoulders. We're all a little bit different. To ensure that we all look good when we step out the house, it is essential that we know what our body types are. There are SEVERAL  distinct body types, but in this article I'm going to concentrate on the primary body types.

Know your measurements

Before determining your body type it is essential that you know your measurements. You are going to want to measure your shoulders, bust, waist and hips. To determine your shoulder, bust, waist and hip size, you should measure yourself using a tape measure. When you go clothes shopping online these days, the majority of the sites that sell apparel offer "size charts". With the "size charts" you will be able to effectively determine your blouse, dress, pants etc. sizes. It is essential to be aware that size charts in different clothing stores are not always the same and might have significant differences. So make sure you know your measurements!

Different Types of Body Types:

Rectangle

The breast, waist, and hip dimensions of a person with a rectangular body shape are all identical to one another. Due to the absence of curves, the body gives the impression of being a column or a rectangle. The top and lower halves of the rectangle-shaped body are proportioned appropriately, resulting in a silhouette that is symmetrical. The waist should be the primary center of this body type, and the rectangle should be broken up to emphasize this.

What to wear for rectangle shape:

Tops- scoop-neck, v-neck, detailed collar or sweetheart

Jeans- high-waisted, wide leg, slim leg or flare

Pants- flared, straight, pleated or printed

Dresses- belted, fit and flare, puff sleeves or ruched

Hourglass

The measurements of your breast and hips should be somewhat similar to one another, and you should have a small waistline, with the narrowest part of your body located at your natural waistline. This is the hourglass body shape. The hourglass figure is both attractive and curvaceous, and it is distinguished by a number of distinctive qualities. You may have more rounded edges to your complete frame and curvier thighs than some of the other body types.

What to wear for hourglass shape:

Tops- keyhole, peplum, v- neck or wrap

Jeans- high waisted, flared, skinny or wide leg

Pants- high waisted, flowy, belted waist or stretchy

Dresses- fit and flare, jumpsuit or wrap

Pear

A high waist, narrow shoulders, and broader hips are the distinguishing characteristics of a pear body type. The weight distribution of this sort of figure implies that the broadest section of your body will be in the stomach area or along the hip line rather than around the breast or shoulders. This is because the hips and stomach are the two areas that get the most weight. The most challenging aspect of your personal style will be locating bottoms that are flattering and comfortable for you to wear due to the way that you carry your weight.

What to wear for pear shape:

Tops- square- neck, boat- neck, peplum or cowl- neck

Jeans- bootcut, straight, high waisted or slim straight

Pants- flat- front, bootcut, slim or straight or high- waisted

Dresses- A-line, wrap, off the shoulder, fit and flare

Inverted Triangle

If you have an inverted triangle body shape, the proportion that best describes you is that your shoulders are broader than both your waist and your hips. This can be a somewhat inconspicuous distinction, or it could be one that is more pronounced. You have a strong shoulder line that produces a V shape with your physique, but your waist does not have a lot of definition to it. Even if you don't have a bust, the measurement of your bust will be bigger than the measurement of your hips.

What to wear for inverted triangle shape:

Tops- peplum, scoop- neck, v- neck or crewneck

Jeans- cropped wide- leg, straight leg, flared or boyfriend

Pants- wide leg, cropped, large prints or microprints

Dresses- fit and flare, A-line or sheath

Apple

Apple-shaped bodies are characterized by having a broader center region, larger breasts, and a waist that is less defined than the rest of the body. Your hips have become more narrow, but the area around your waist has become somewhat more robust. Your hips and legs are often the parts of your body that draw the most compliments. Apples are characterized by having relatively short necks, thin hips, and long, strong legs!

What to wear for apple shape:

Tops- Dolman sleeve, wrap, peplum or v-neck

Jeans- bootcut, skinny, flared, straight or slim

Pants- belted, high waisted, bootcut or straight leg

Dresses- off the shoulder, empire waist, wrap or bias cut

Why it is important to know your body type?

The framework and make-up of a person can result in a variety of distinct forms and dimensions for the human body. This is one of the many things that sets every human apart from one another. Some bodies are more voluptuous than others, while others have wider shoulders and more muscle definition. It is essential that you be aware of your body type so that you may select the most flattering apparel possible to accentuate your most attractive features. Knowing your body type is crucial for a number of other reasons as well, including your health. The form of one's body is not necessarily an indication of one's general health. However, accumulating fat in diverse places of the body can be a powerful predictor for some ailments, such as stroke, diabetes, heart disease, and a number of others.
